VACATION
(ANNUAL LEAVE)
All full-time twelve-month employees of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board shall earn annual leave with pay per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) as follows:
Continuous Employment | Annual Leave Earned |
Less than one year | Pro rata of 10 working days |
One to four years | 10 working days |
Four but less than five years | 10 working days plus pro rata of 5 working days |
Five to nine years | 15 working days plus pro rata of 5 working days |
Ten years or more | 20 working days |
Requests for annual leave must be approved by the appropriate department head. All continuous employment as a nine-month or ten-month employee shall count in accumulating length of service to determine annual leave earned upon becoming a twelve-month employee.
Annual leave may be accumulated and carried forward as earned up to a maximum of fifty (50) working days. Any annual leave beyond fifty (50) working days, shall not be credited to the employees accumulated leave except where specifically authorized by the Board. Any unused annual leave paid at the time of retirement, termination, or discharge shall be paid to the employee or his/her heirs on or before the next regular payday for the pay cycle during which the employee was working at the time of separation or no later than fifteen (15) days following the date of termination, resignation, or retirement, whichever occurs first, at the employee's daily rate of pay.
DEFERRED RETIREMENT OPTION PROGRAM (DROP)
Any employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board who participates in the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) shall be eligible for and may elect to receive on a one-time basis payment for unused annual leave upon entering DROP on the same basis as any other employee who retires or otherwise leaves employment; otherwise, any accrued annual leave shall be paid only upon final retirement of the employee.
